TGGS visited Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, Germany

The TGGS delegation visited Helmut Schmidt University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, Germany in order to establish academic and research collaborations.

On April 29th 2016, Asst. Prof. Dr. Monpilai Narasingha, TGGS Dean, Dr.-Ing. Chayakorn Netramai, TGGS Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs and Asst. Dr.-Ing. Suramate Chalermwisutkul, Advisory to the Dean, visited Helmut Schmidt University (HSU) in Hamburg, Germany to discuss about possible collaborations in terms of academic and research between TGGS, KMUTNB and HSU.

TGGS delegation were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Wilfried Seidel, President of HSU, Dr. Martin Nassua, Director of the International Office, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Fickenscher, Laboratory Manager of the High-Frequency Engineering research group, Prof. Dr.-Ing .Gerd Scholl from the Chair of Electrical Measurement Engineering and Prof. Dr. rer.nat. habil. Markus Bause form the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Numerical Mathematics. Dr.-Ing. Suramate Chalermwisutkul then gave a presentation about TGGS, KMUTNB to the meeting members.

The delegation then visited the High-Frequency research groups and were welcomed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Schäffer, Head of the Radio-Frequency Engineering & Photonics research group.

The delegation then visited the research group of the Laboratory for Manufacturing Technology (LaFT) which is part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department where they received a presentation regarding the smart ASSIST project which aims at smart, adjustable, soft and intelligent support technologies for manufacturing companies. Later on the delegation visited the Process Engineering research laboratories where they were welcomed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Niemeyer, Head of the Process Engineering with specialization in separation technologies.

The conclusion meeting saw an interesting discussion as of how HSU and TGGS, KMUTNB may collaborate in terms of academic and research in diverse areas. Both parties agreed to arrange the next meeting in Thailand where they will discuss the possibility to sign the MoU and to start activities that will surely be of great benefits for both universities.

The Helmut Schmidt University is one of two German Bundeswehr (Federal Armed Forces) universities. HSU was established in 1972 as a "University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg" by the initiative of the then Defense Minister Helmut Schmidt. HSU has over 900 staffs and 2500 students in which over 40 students are from foreign countries including France, Thailand and South Korea.
